Lisa McDermott

Senior Consultant

Lisa McDermott is a retired Federal Bureau of Prisons Law Enforcement Officer, with over 23 years of experience working with FBOP. She commenced her career in 1997 in the health care profession and retired as a Health Service Administrator in 2019, at the Federal Detention Center in Seatac, WA. Ms. McDermott went on to serve as an Operations Director in the private sector in 2020. She provided over-site for several facilities to include ICE/DHS, state and federal department of corrections, local jails, holdover facilities, and detention centers.

Currently, Ms. McDermott serves as the Ombudsperson for a state correctional facility, she acts independently and impartially to strengthen institutional procedures and practices that protect the health, welfare, and safety of offenders. She reviews and investigates Level II denials, she works to resolve issues and recommends procedural or policy changes when systemic concerns are identified.

With over 25 years of correctional experience, Ms. McDermott’s background includes a deep understanding and expertise in regulatory standards, policy and procedures development, and operational oversight. She has successfully led initiatives in recruiting, onboarding, credentialing, background investigations, and liaising. Her broad-based knowledge of correctional operations and health care delivery has made her a trusted leader in ensuring quality and compliance across diverse correctional environments.
